The disaster occurred on 26 April 1986, at reactor number four at the Chernobyl plant, near the town of Pripyat in the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, during a systems test.
Nowadays, most of contaminated areas no longer presents a danger of radiation, but Pripyat is still a ghost town 25 years after the incident.
